Sardanisca is located in a peaceful courela about 2km from Azaruja, an important village in cork production. Azaruja is quite lively, inhabited by people of all ages and with considerable cultural activity, given its small size.

Sustainability

We take sustainability and biodiversity seriously and have implemented a series of measures in this regard:

  • We have installed a solar energy production system with battery storage
  • We have created swales to retain rainwater for soil irrigation
  • We consume water from the well, made potable through a water treatment system
  • Our vegetable garden and orchard produce part of the food we eat
  • Our olive oil comes from our olive trees
  • Grass maintenance is carried out by a flock of sheep
  • We compost all organic waste
  • We are implementing a set of Permaculture initiatives (proposed by Landscape Architect João Jorge)

Founders

Filipa Marques Dias: Born in Beira Baixa in 1975, she now lives between Lisbon and Alentejo. She studied sociology but works in marketing, design and artistic production. At the architecture studio Falanstério, she is responsible for social media and digital marketing; at Tsuri, a brand she created in 2016, she develops handmade light objects. She completed a theatre course at Evoé. She is a paper specialist, origami artist and develops papermaking projects. She recently completed a course in wool processing (from sheep to yarn) and natural dyeing, which she intends to develop further.

Nuno Godinho: Born in Angola in 1973. Today he lives between Lisbon and Alentejo. In 1996 he graduated in Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and works as a computer programmer. In 2010, he completed the Cinema and Moving Image course at Ar.Co. His artistic work focuses on video art but also photography, sculpture, interactive installations and audio. Given his training in computer science, he naturally tends to use technology in his artistic production.
